There are some experiences we have in life that simply have no logical explanation. We are conditioned in this society to believe that the paranormal experiences that most of us have had at least once in our lives is nothing more than coincidence or trickery of the mind. I for one have experienced a plethora of paranormal experiences that lack a logical explanation and turn my blood cold just thinking about them. I believe to have had contact with aliens, demonic forces, and spirits from beyond the grave. I’m not sure why I’ve had so many of these experiences throughout my life. I’ve always felt like I’m a bit different from others. I feel some sort of connection to a higher plane of infinite existence and light which over the years has influenced a great deal of the way I view the universe and spirituality. I was 20 years old when I experienced my spiritual awakening. Since then I feel I have obtained a certain type of wisdom that has shaped me as a person. Experiencing what society defines as “impossible” has shaped this wisdom and the overarching notion that defines this wisdom is that experience does not lie. This story that I’m going to share with you may seem like it’s straight out of a horror move such as Paranormal Activity, but I assure you that all I am telling it exactly as it happened.

It was the summer of 2011. I was in a committed long term relationship for the first time in my life and we were happy. My girlfriend’s name was Jenny and she had an aunt who was very wealthy and successful who served as a high council member for the mayor in City of Industry, California. Jenny’s aunt owned a very large house on a hilltop which had a breathtaking view of the San Gabriel Valley in a private community. We had spent quite a few holidays in her aunt’s house and it had a very homely vibe and I always looked forward to going to that house. One day Jenny informed me that her aunt was going out of town for a week and was requesting for us to house sit and look after her golden retriever. Needless to say we saw that as an opportunity to spend some quality time together while taking a reprieve from the struggle of our daily lives and just get a whiff of the life of luxury!

The first night in the house was a good one. We went to the local grocery store, went to a nice restaurant, and spent the rest of the evening vegging out in the living room watching TV. However the tranquility of the environment was suddenly interrupted while we were cuddling on the couch. We heard footsteps above us and heard the floorboards creaking. It sounded as if a large person was walking in the corridor above us. Jenny and I stared at each other in disbelief because we knew that we were the only ones in the house and that the dog was resting peacefully in the garage. Suddenly it sounded as if a large piece of furniture was dropped on the floor above us. We both felt very uneasy, but I just assumed that the sounds were coming from the ventilation system. Just to be safe I grabbed a baseball bat and inspected the top floor. When I got up there didn’t hear, see, or feel anything unusual and returned to my girlfriend’s arms on the couch. When it came time to go to bed we decided to sleep in Jenny’s aunt’s room. It was a very large master bedroom with a king sized bed which faced standing mirrors to a closet that was the size of a studio apartment. We made passionate love that night and drifted off. A couple hours later I woke up in a cold sweat and stared at my reflection in the mirror. I felt a very creepy feeling and heard creaking upstairs again. In lieu of the creepy vibe I fell back asleep for a few more hours. I woke up again around 5 am for work and it was very dark in that house. As I walked into the hall towards the bathroom to shower I could not shake that creepy feeling, but was grateful not to hear footsteps or creaking noises. When I entered the shower the water was flowing normally at first, and then suddenly became scolding hot and ice cold. I headed to the garage on the other side of the house where the hot water heater was located. When I opened up the door to the heater I noticed that the flame which heats the water had gone out somehow so I relit the heater and headed back to the bathroom. As I was exiting the garage I felt a suddenly burst of cold energy which chilled me to the bone. I quickly got dressed and headed to work.

When I arrived at work that morning I couldn’t shake that eerie vibe going on at Jenny’s aunt’s house. That evening around sunset I returned to the house and my bad feelings left. I just wrote it all off as our mind was most likely just playing tricks on us and we were psyching ourselves out. When cooked dinner the state of the art kitchen and prepared to head out to get ice cream. I clearly remember locking all the doors in the house before we left. When we returned I noticed that golden retriever seemed extra excited, but was not distressed. However, I quickly became distressed when I saw that the sliding glass door to the back porch was wide open. At that point I feared that someone had broken in and was possibly still in the house. It immediately occurred to me that the security system WAS programmed and the door was definitely locked before we left. If someone had broken in to the house it should have set off an alarm. I told Jenny to get ready to call 911 and began searching the entire house with the baseball bat again. I checked everywhere except the upstairs where we heard all the strange sounds the night prior. I headed up the spiral staircase and I could feel the feeling of dread welling up in my stomach. When I got to the top of the steps I heard a mild creak from one of the bedrooms on the far end of the hallway. I turned on the lights and could feel my heart nearly beating out of my chest. I entered the bedroom and noticed that the bathroom door was closed. I gripped with bat with my sweaty palms fearing for the worst as I prepared to open the door. I held my breath, opened the door and entered the bathroom. I could definitely feel a presence of some kind in that bathroom and I thought someone might be behind the shower curtain. I ripped open the shower curtain ready to swing…but there was nothing there. I headed back downstairs a reassured Jenny that there was nobody in the house. Pretty soon we started feeling cheerful again and started cuddling on the couch in the living room. We started fooling around and that’s when we both had one of the scariest paranormal experiences of our lives!

I can still hear that deafening thud on the floor directly above our heads which was startling beyond words. We both instantaneously could feel a demonic presence inside the house and whatever it was seemed to be violently enraged by our actions. We were in a state of utter shock and were trebling with fear wondering what was going to happen next. The golden retriever began snarling and was bearing his teeth. He ran over to the staircase and was definitely focusing on something that we could not see. The stairs began to creak and it sounded as if that entity was making its way down the stairs. The dog completely went berserk and was barking nonstop in a state of fear and rage. We called the dog back over to us and the demonic presence seemed to fade away again. At that point I was scarred shitless and wanted to leave the house immediately without looking back. Jenny told me that leaving wasn’t an option because we had nowhere to take the dog to and I also discovered that her aunt was paying her well to remain in the house. I was starting to fear for both of our lives and we ended up getting in a really intense argument. I had a very difficult time getting to sleep that night and kept reflecting on the sounds and energy I was feeling. I felt like I was trapped in the movie Paranormal Activity…yet for some reason I felt compelled to stay in the house and do what I could to keep my girl safe. I was praying I didn’t leave that house possessed and in a strait jacket. After smudging the entire house with sage I finally felt calm enough to fall asleep. As I was drifting off I heard footsteps on the upper level and the strange familiar creaking sounds. That night I recall having terrifying dreams and even experienced sleep paralysis. When I left for work early in the morning the same issue occurred with the water heater and the house was wicked cold this should not be the case in the middle of July.

Finally we had made it to the end of the week and it was our last night staying in that cursed house. The last night was certainly scary as hell, but not as bad as the previous night. I noticed that things only escalated when Jenny and I engaged in sexual activity. However, when we went out that night and return ALL of the cabinet doors in the kitchen we opened at the same angle as if they were pointing at something. There wasn’t too much activity after that until after we went to sleep. Once again I had persistent night terrors. I would up repeatedly throughout the night like I was caught in some sort of feedback loop. At one point I experienced sleep paralysis and it felt like an evil spirit was sitting on my sternum. I couldn’t breath and I thought I was going to die. It took all my will power to finally take a gasp of air and pushing off the mass I felt pressing against my being. Soon after that the TV in the bedroom turned on by itself. Finally it was morning and when I left the house I felt so grateful to still be alive and have my wits about me. Oddly enough when we confronted Jenny’s aunt about the paranormal activity we experienced she legitimately had no idea what we were talking about and asked us “what had we been smoking.” When we were asked to houses it the following year we politely declined to assist.
